Kosovo – the new-born country tour

We will wait for your arrival at Prishtina airport. Transfer to the hotel. Our trip leader will meet the group in the lobby and depart for a sightseeing tour of Prishtina. During the tour, we will visit Kosova National Library (of modern architectural design), Mother Theresa Statue, George Kastrioti Skanderbeg Statue, Kosova Museum (built by Austrians for the Turkish army in 1898, has an extensive collection of archaeological and ethnological artifacts, including the Neolithic Goddess on a Throne terracotta (4.000 B.C.), Çarshi Mosque, the Clock Tower (26-meter high built by Jashar Pasha in 1764), the Fatih Mosque or Imperial Mosque, The Great Hammam, Emin Gjiku Ethnographic Museum (the complex is an extremely well-preserved building from the 18th century) and the new-born monument. Welcome dinner in a restaurant. Overnight.

Breakfast and departure. During this tour, we will see the first Tomb of Sultan Murat (10 km) built by Sultan Bayezid I, the place where the Turkish Sultan Murat was killed during the Kosova Battle of 1389 and the Monument to the Kosova Heroes (in memory of 1389 battle). The next stop is Gracanica Monastery (20 km), a UNESCO site and an orthodox church completed in 1321. Our trip continues to Ulpiana (15 km), an ancient city built in the 2nd century at the time of Trojan King's rule (the most beautiful city of Illyrian Dardania). The last stop for visit will be Gadime Marble Cave (10 km). It contains natural treasures made of stalactite and stalagmites with particular crystals and layers of multi-colored marble. The trip continues to Prizren (75 km). Traditional dinner. Overnight in Prizren.

Breakfast. We will start our Prizren City tour and we will visit some of the most important sightseeing points as Stone Bridge (symbol of ottoman Prizren, built 1534 by Ali Bag), The Hammam of Gazi Mehmet Pasha, Sinan Pasha Mosque (Prizren's most prominent mosque, built 1615 by Sinan Pasha), League of Prizren (the place where Albanian patriots gathered on 10 June, 1878, to start the political, military and cultural struggle against the Ottoman Empire), Fortress of Prizren (ancient fortress, estimated from VI century, which has been a place for defense refuge since prehistoric times, the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Succor, Our Lady of Ljevish (dates back to the 9th-11th century as a Byzantine church, unique architectural design and UNESCO World Heritage protected). The trip continues to Gjakova city (35km). During a driving visit of Tailors’ Bridge (1720), a grand stone bridge of eleven arches said to have been built 300 years ago by the artisans of Djakova and Prizren. The visit continues followed by visiting a traditional old shopping center - the Grand Bazaar in the downtown of Gjakova, Hadum Mosque and Bektashi Tekke (1790). Dinner in a restaurant. Overnight.

Breakfast and departure to Peja towards Deçani. Visit of Haxhi Zeka’s Kulla at Isniq, situated at the foot of the Accursed Mountains at a distance of 12km from Peja, traditional Albanian stone houses dating back to the turbulent last decades of the Ottoman Empire. We will drive to Decani Monastery (25 km), built between 1327-1335 by the Serbian medieval king St. Stephen of Decani, and was dedicated to the Ascension of the Lord. The monastery is settled in the picturesque valley of the Bistrica. Visit Patriarchate of Pec Monastery (20 km) built 1321, featuring outstanding examples of paintings from the 13th - 17th centuries. Regarding Rugova Valley - you will discover the most challenging nature attraction by walking, hiking, fishing, cycling, alpinism and climbing. Departure to Pristina (85 km). We will have a farewell dinner in a restaurant. Overnight.

Breakfast at the hotel. You will have free time until your flight. Transfer to the airport in Prishtina.
