Macedonia – The birthplace of Saint Mother Teresa of Calcutta – tour

Arrival to Skopje International airport. Transfer to the hotel. Diner in traditional national restaurant in Skopje.

After breakfast we start with Holy Mass in Memorial house of Mother Teresa. Memorial house of Saint Mother Teresa is built at the place of the old Catholic chapel where mother Teresa was baptized. In the memorial house you can see many items and documents of the life of mother Teresa. At the top is a beautiful glass chapel and there we will have Holy Mass today and tomorrow. After the Holy Mass and exploring the memorial house we will start a city tour in Skopje with local guide. We will visit the modern part and the old bazaar in Skopje. Here the travelers can see mixture of religions and cultures. Also we will visit the place where Saint Mother Teresa was born. At the main square we will see the biggest monument of Alexander the Great in the world and many other. After the city tour we will have lunch at the old bazaar. In the afternoon we drive to mountain Vodno to see one of the biggest crosses in Europe, the Millennium cross. To reach the cross we will take a cable car and we will admire on beautiful views on Skopje valley. Drive to the hotel, free evening.

After breakfast we will have Holy Mass at Mother Teresa chapel. After the Mass we drive to Tetovo, there we will visit very unique and beautiful mosque. The Colorful mosque in Tetovo is very unique because is painted from inside and outside. Inside we will admire on a beautiful paintings and we will learn about islam from the Imam. From the mosque we drive to Arabati baba Teke, where we will learn more about the Bektasi order, an Islamic Sufi order. From Tetovo we drive to Matka Canyon near Skopje. We will have fish lunch in a restaurant at the canyon. After the lunch we will take boat ride and explore the canyon, the boats will transfer us to the enrance of the Vrelo cave. We will enter the cave and admire on its beauties. Drive back to Skopje. Free time. Organized dinner in the local restaurant.

After breakfast we will have Holly Mass at the Catholic church in Skopje – Sacred heart of Jesus. Later we drive to the National park Mavrovo and there we will visit one of the most beautiful Orthodox monasteries in Macedonia. Bigorski monastery is dedicated to St. John the Baptist and there are more than 30 male monks living there. In the church you will see the most beautiful wooden iconostasis on the Balkans. From Bigorski monastery we drive to Vevchani village. There we will visit Vevchani springs and have lunch in a local restaurant. Drive to Ohrid, free evening.

After breakfast we wil have Holly Mass in the Catholic church in Ohrid – St. Ciril and Methodius. Later we will start a city tour in Ohrid with local guide. We will have a tour through the old city of Ohrid, town of UNESCO. Ohrid is one of the oldest towns in Europe full of history with traces of four thousand years of civilization. We will visit famous untouched medieval churches, the fortress of Tsar Samuel with a beautiful panorama, the ancient Macedonian-Roman theatre, sailing by small boats on the way back to the center. Explanation of the history behind the biggest open-air museum of the Byzantium. Lunch in a national restaurant. Furthermore, we will visit the church “St.Sophia” and we will visit a pearl shop store, where the craftsmen will describe the way of making pearl jewelry. Free time to explore more of this UNESCO site.

Breakfast in the hotel. Holly Mass in the Catholic church in Ohrid. Boat trip to the unique reconstruction of a prehistoric settlement on water from the Bronze Age, the most visited site in Macedonia. Explanation by the professional curator. We continue sailing to the extraordinary monument of nature –the Lake Springs and the monastery of St. Naum from the 9th century. Lunch in the restaurant near the springs. Free time. Sailing back to town. Dinner in a restaurant. Overnight.

After breakfast we drive to National Park Galicica where will admire on a breathtaking views on Ohrid and Prespa Lake. Later we will descend to Prespa Valley where we will explore Prespa Lake and have lunch in restaurant on the shores of Prespa Lake. Drive to Bitola, city tour in Bitola. Free evening.

After breakfast transfer to Skopje International airport
