Day 1Podgorica airport transfer to Kotor, with possible stop for lunch
We pick up our guests at Podgorica airport, and we start our journey in direction of your accommodation in Kotor. Depending on the flight arrival, we may organize lunch somewhere on the road and visit one of the attractions on the road. In the late afternoon, we will arrive to the accommodation in Kotor, have dinner and free time. Overnight.
Day 2 Kotor – Lustica peninsula – lunch at a local household - Kotor overnight
After the breakfast, you will have a one-hour walking tour in Kotor Old Town, exploring the cozy streets and famous squares in this UNESCO World Heritage Site. We drive in direction of the Lustica Peninsula – the largest peninsula on Boka bay. Beginning in the coastal settlement of Radovici, this breathtaking tour takes you through the heart of Montenegro’s biggest, yet secluded peninsula, Lustica. The entire region of the Lustica peninsula is remarkable and stunning. In the first hour we will spend going up the hill over the rocky zone with great view on Boka bay and Tivat. After entering the zone of the green forest, we start going down the hill passing next to the remains of the old village households. It is said that Lustica is the land of endless summers. Passing through this sunny zone filled with olive groves, we will come to the one of the villages typical for this region. In one of the Lustica villages we will visit a local farm, where our wonderful host will serve us their domestic cheese, olive oil, wine, liquors, rakija and lunch. You will enjoy their hospitality, nice temper and little garden with olives and animals. After the lunch, if you are still up for more walking, we’ll take a 20 minutes walk to one of the most beautiful beaches in Montenegro – called Zanjice, where our transportation will wait for us.
Drive back in direction of Kotor. Dinner. Free time. Overnight.
Day 3 Kotor – Serpentine road - Lovcen Mountain full day hiking tour (Dolovi - Babina Glava before and Ivanova Korita - Lake peak with mausoleum after the snack)
We check out from the accommodation in Kotor and after the breakfast, we continue in direction of Cetinje and Lovcen National Park, using the old serpentine road, one of the most attractive roads in Montenegro. When we come at Ivanova Korita, we will see the most popular natural surroundings of the Lovcen National Park and its little settlement.
First part of the tour: Ivanova korita - Babina Glava peak - Dolovi village and back:
From Ivanova korita zone, we will have starting point of our Circle Panoramic tour. This tour takes you through beautiful forests of beech trees and reveals stunning vistas of the coast. Divided into three parts, the tour will be most demanding in the first part as you will experience an altitude difference for about 300 meters soon followed by the beech forest. Then, we will take a walk to the mountain peak Babina Glava (1474) with old Austro-Hungarian fortification that had a purpose of observation point and from there you will have a great view on some parts of our Adriatic coast. The second part of the tour takes you on an easy walking path with views of the coast. The final part of this circle around tour, brings you to the ancient village Dolovi, the sunshine village in the National park. The old hamlet Dolovi village will charm you with its ways. From there, we hike back to the starting point. This morning hike will have 9.5 km length total ascent and descent are the same: 350 m. An easy snack made of local specialties in one of the local restaurant at Ivanova Korita follows (we do not recommend lunch now as we will have a demanding second part of the tour).
Second part of the tour: Ivanova Korita - Lake Peak with a visit to the mausoleum (1657 m).
After the break and snack for the ones that are for more trekking and adventure, we have prepared the second part of the tour shorter in km, but more demanding when we speak about altitude difference. The trail through grassy meadows and green grasslands pass over Ivan Hills side region. As you go up the hill, you will pass through the beautiful beech forest! As you climb to the peak, 360 degrees panoramic view on different regions of Montenegro is revealed to you. As the last part of the tour, that we would highly suggest is 462 stairs to climb so you can see and visit the mausoleum positioned on highest altitude in the world dedicated to Montenegro famous leader and poet Njegos, from where you will have even better view on other zones of Montenegro. Second part of the tour last approximately 3 hours and its lenght is 5 km with the ascent of 400m.
Part of the group that did not go to walk second part of the trail will stay for a while at Ivan Hill side plain where they can take beautiful photos, enjoy fresh air, have a coffee or drink. After the break, they will go with their bus to the Lake peak, visit mausoleum of Njegosh. The whole group will meet each other and have the lunch at the restaurant just below the Lake peak.
After the lunch you will had back to Kotor over Lovcen and Cetinje, and here optionally you can visit old royal capital – Cetinje, have a walking tour or free time. After we will go back to our accommodation at Kotor. Overnight.
Day 4 Kotor – Perast - Our Lady of the Rocks – Local household near Niksic – Zabljak overnight
After breakfast, we check out from the accommodation in Kotor and drive in direction of Perast. Perast is one of the best preserved baroque settlements in the Mediterranean. With its two islands, St. George and Our Lady of the Rocks, it creates one of the biggest tourist attractions in Montenegro. Our Lady of the Rocks is a man-made island, and you will be amazed by stories and legends that you’ll hear while walking on this small island. After the visit to Perast and Our Lady of the Rocks, we’ll start a journey towards the north of Montenegro and high mountains of Durmitor. On the half way there, we will visit a local household in a village near Niksich. You will sample different kinds of home-made products, especially prepared by our hosts like three different kinds of fruit brandy (‘rakija’, as we call it), honey, specialties of meat, juices and cheese all prepared in the traditional Montenegrin way. You will feel the well-known Montenegrin hospitality on every step of the tour. You will see the interiors of an old Montenegrin home and learn about how food was prepared and preserved during the winters. Our host will also show you how he makes honey and if you like, he will give you a protection suit and a hat and explain to you how the bee community functions. In spring and summer, the colors are impressive as our host has more than 30 trees of different kinds of fruit. We will arrive to our accommodation in Zabljak, where we’ll check in and have spare time before diner. Overnight in Zabljak.
Day 5Zabljak, - Mountain eyes - 3 lakes tour : Black lake - Zminje lake - Jablan lake
After the breakfast, the group will go with their tour leader/hiking guide on the first mountain Durmitor National Park hiking tour. Durmitor National Park, with river Tara create only natural zone in Montenegro protected by UNESCO World Heritage.
This is the tour that will take you through one of the symbols of Durmitor - its glacial lakes, also known as the Mountain Eyes. This tour is one of the most popular and convenient tours that will allow enjoying easy trail and long walk through the pine forest of the National Park. The first part of the tour starts from 1416 m altitude - is circle trail along Black lake (Big and Small lake) through its coniferous forest, before you continue up hill to charming and quiet Zminje lake and then above it Jablan lake on 1791 m altitude. After the break, we will take the same way back to Zabljak. This tour is categorized as medium, not because of its high intensity, but because of its length of total 18 km with ascent - descent almost 400 meters, but on easy and very well-marked trail. After the tour, the group will have lunch, made of traditional Montenegrin products in one of the restaurants in Zabljak. After lunch, we come back to the accommodation, have dinner and free time. Overnight.
Day 6 Zabljak – Curevac peak –Djurdjevica Tara bridge, Tara river canyon - Biogradska hill rainforest – Moraca river canyon - Podgorica overnight
After breakfast, you pack your bags, and we leave accommodation, and Zabljak as we are going toward Tara river Canyon - one of the deepest canyons in the world. After a short ride, the group will do the 3 km total hike to Curevac peak, where you will be rewarded with a great viewpoint on Tara river, below which the canyon is deepest -1300 m deep. The path is easy and natural. Afterwards, we will continue the ride along the canyon and will have a short break to visit the famous Djurdjevica Tara bridge from 1937, on of the miracles of Yugoslavia old architecture. You can have coffee, take photos, walk over the bridge, etc. We will continue over the beautiful canyon and optionally stop for more photos. We will arrive at Biogradska Gora national park with its very popular tourist attraction, the Lake Biogradsko, and one of the oldest virgin forest in Europe. We will take a leisure stroll around the lake with loads of photo opportunities to capture its breathtaking beauty.
Then, we’ll have lunch in one of the traditional restaurants near the city of Kolasin, before we continue to our accommodation near Kolasin. Check-in, free time and dinner. Overnight.
Day 7 Bjelasica mountain : Katun Vranjak - Troglava - Zekova Glava
After the breakfast, the group will have a ride to Katun vranjak - summer pasture place of old Montenegro, located on altitude of 1750 m below the highest mountain ridge of Bjelasica. This eco-village is a starting point for the hike on the highest peaks of Bjelasica both of them above 2100 m. Ridge gives a unique 360 degrees view towards 2 beautiful lakes and many other mountains around, especially towards the Cursed Mountains - the Albanian Alps. Altitude difference is 600 m and the whole circle has around 18 km. After the tour, we are heading back to the accommodation. Free time, dinner, overnight.
Day 8Departure day
Breakfast and check out. If guests would like and depending on time of the flight. we can go on a walking tour through Podgorica or visit the lake Skadar, or you can just have few hours for yourself before we get back to the airport. Transfer to the airport.
